Peter Hicks
Dr Peter Hicks was born in 1964 in Wallsend-upon-Tyne
(UK). After graduating in Classics at University
College London, he studied at Rome University, Italy
and Cambridge, UK (PhD, St John's College, 1993). He
has been historian of Napoleon I and III and manager
of international affairs at the Fondation Napoléon
since 2000. He is also currently Visiting Professor
at Bath University (UK) and Honorary Fellow of the
Institute on Napoleon and the French Revolution,
Florida State University (US). He sits on the
bi-national Franco-Italian committee fo the
commemoration of the Bicentenary of Napoleon on the
island of Elba, 1814-2014 and on the Historical
Committee for the publication of the complete
correspondence of Napoleon I. Recent publications
include a new edition of, and commentary on,
Napoleon's novel Clisson et Eugénie, Fayard,
2007, and the essay, "Austerlitz and the French", in
Richard Harding (ed.) A grat and glorious
victory: New perspectives on the battle of
Trafalgar, Seaforth 2008.
