David Hollins was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1962. After graduating from University College London with an LLB (Hons), he trained as a maritime lawyer before working in commercial shipping. After completing an MBA from Edinburgh Business Schooll, he is transfering into financial services. He has written seven books for Osprey Military Publishing related to the Austrian Army during the Napoleonic Wars, as well as helping out with Ian Castle's two Campaign books on 1809 and contributing extensively to the ABC-CLIO Encylopedia of the French Revolutionary & Napoleonic Wars. He has also regularly contributed articles to specialist Napoleonic magazines.
